Orientation Party for New Students in Fall 2026! Welcome!
The New Student Orientation for the first semester of the 2026–27 academic year was successfully held on 31 August, 2026, marking a vibrant and meaningful start to the new students’ journey with MA-ELTA. The event brought together nearly all incoming students and created a welcoming atmosphere that bridged the gap between faculty and students.
The session began with an opening speech by Dr. Gavin BUI, Programme Director of MA-ELTA. He warmly welcomed the new students and shared his vision for the upcoming academic year.
Following Dr. BUI’s remarks, students enjoyed a rich lunch buffet thoughtfully prepared for the occasion. While savouring the meal, they had the pleasure of listening to insightful sharing sessions from various faculty members, making the afternoon both enjoyable and informative.
Dr. Anna Tso, Head of the Department of English, also extended a heartfelt welcome to all new students and expressed her excitement to see the new cohort grow throughout the programme.
Thereafter, the teaching team of MA-ELTA took turns to introduce themselves, giving students a clear picture of the expertise and research interests they will encounter in the classroom.

After the formal part, we opened things up for free discussion. Students started chatting with each other – getting to know classmates from all kinds of backgrounds, and many also took the chance to talk informally with the teachers. The conversations were so lively that they carried on well into the afternoon. It was exactly the warm, friendly atmosphere we want for MA‑ELTA.
We’re really looking forward to seeing all our new students settle in and make the most of their time in HSUHK!
