Admission

Eligibility

Applicant should have:

A bachelor’s degree in a discipline in or closely related to liberal arts or humanities components from a recognised university or equivalent; 

AND

Documentary evidence demonstrating applicants’ English language proficiency, which includes:

  • completion of a degree from a tertiary institution or programme where the medium of instruction is English; or
  • a minimum of 550 (paper-based); 79 (internet-based) in TOEFL / TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition@; or
  • a minimum of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each paper in IELTS / IELTS Online / IELTS Indicator@; or
  • a minimum of 500 in College English Test-Band 6 (CET-6); or
  • an equivalent of any of the above (e.g. Test for English Majors (TEM-4 Good / TEM-8 Pass), etc.).

@ TOEFL and IELTS results are considered valid two years from the test date. 

 

Please Note: Starting from the September 2024 intake, the University will no longer accept the following online English tests as meeting the English language requirements:  

  • Duolingo

 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and a written test to confirm their suitability for the programme.

Application Procedures

  1. Register an account
  2. Login and complete all the required sections on the online application form
  3. Receive an application number
  4. Settle the application fee
  5. Check your application status regularly
  6. Selected applicants will be required to attend an interview

Required Supporting Documents

  1. Official transcripts and grading schemes of all tertiary level studies
  2. Copies of certificates of academic/professional qualifications*
  3. Original valid official score report of TOEFL/IELTS (Academic)/CET-6 sent directly from the test organization to the University;
  4. A copy of identity document

2025/26 Semester 1 Application Deadline
Non-local applicants: 30 June 2025
Local applicants: 22 August 2025

Fees & Scholarships

The tuition fee* of academic year 2025/26 are as follows:

 

Full time (1 year) or Part time (2 years)

HK$109,920

HK$4,580 per credit

*Fees are subject to review regularly

Successful applicants must settle an non-refundable admission fee within a stated period of time and count as a part of the tuition fee.

Entrance Scholarship

MA in ELTA Programme offers merit-based entrance scholarships for top-ranking students who are admitted. The entrance scholarships may cover full or half of the tuition fee.

 

Applications shall be within a specific period of time after admission. Further details will be announced in due course.

HSUHK Alumni

Any HSUHK/HSMC/HSSC graduates will get a 10% reduction in tuition fees once they are successfully admitted to the MA in ELTA Programme.
