MA-ELTA Students Lead Tin Ka Ping English Summer Camp 2026

The Department of English at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong successfully hosted the 2026 Tin Ka Ping English Summer Camp from 15 to 19 July. The camp brought together 56 secondary students and 4 teachers from Guangdong Shaoguan Tianjiabing Middle School and Wuhu TianJiabing Experimental Middle School, offering a rich blend of academic training and cultural exploration.

A core highlight was the central role played by our MA-ELTA students. A team of 14 student leaders – 11 MA-ELTA and 3 BA-ENG – took charge of camp coordination and pedagogical delivery. This arrangement reflects our strong commitment to providing MA-ELTA students with meaningful internship opportunities, allowing them to apply their language teaching and assessment skills in a real-world setting.

The summer camp featured a welcome workshop, a visit to the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, and a welcoming dinner hosted by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. Participants also enjoyed a field trip to Lai Chi Wo and received intensive public-speaking training from our MA-ELTA leaders, culminating in a 1‑minute pitch presentation on the final morning.

Through this immersive experience, our MA-ELTA students honed their instructional, organisational, and cross-cultural communication competencies. We look forward to continuing such collaborative exchanges and nurturing the next generation of English language educators.
